Of all the gin joints in all the world...
The Foundation of Film Society just played Casablanca. Such an awesome movie. The whole point of the society is to watch movies each week that have something to do with whatever we're reading in FYP, and they always have someone introduce it. The first week they played O Brother, Where Art Thou? Because we were reading the Odessey. The Second was A Streetcar Named Desire, which I didn't have time to go to, but apparently has something to do with Greek Tragedy. This week we're reading the Republic and Alan Hall (a tutor and also the lecturer for Antigone last week) intorduced it basically saying that, it wasn't really like the Republic at all, but was a spectacular movie. He's a really funny guy. He then tried to relate it to Plato by the dialogue that "prooves" that we already know everything and are in fact just remembering whenever we "learn". This is of course related to Casablanca because when you watch it for the first time it feels really familiar.
I also think I'm in Dani-withdrawl because I kept seeing Rick/Capt. Renault. Which surprises me as not that unusual a pairing. I wish she were hear to giggle over it at any rate.
And now I think I have to call home. Because it's Casablanca and I always watch that with Dad.
