I just watched Unending. The last episode of SG-1 ever. Yeah sure there's going to be movies and such (which I'm so happy about) but it's never going to be the same. Now I've seen it all.
It's kinda shocking really. There are ten years of this show (and how lucky am I to have my favourite show be something that has lasted this long?) and now I've seen and own all of it.
Weird.
To the extreme.
Anyway
I liked it. I liked that it was a fairly normal episode. I liked that they didn't bring anyone back except Thor (I love Thor), and that it had this edge of destiny to it.
I liked the scene between Daniel and Vala with Daniel ranting at her and her crying and then them working it out, although I still really want her to slap him, because he so deserves it. Daniel can be such an asshole. But I still love him ("You do like girls, right?"). And his line "You better not be messing with me." was exactly right for him. He's basically been trying not to fall in love with her from the start because she could so easily break him. And it was so nice to see them finally doing it. Also the scene of Vala leaving Daniel's room and running into Mitchell? Priceless. And Sam learning to play the Cello!
I wish they'd had more interaction between all of the characters though. The way it was shot it seemed like they spent the entire time eating as a group and then splitting off to Cameron and The General playing chess, or Cam and Teal'c sparring, and Daniel and Vala issues. What about Daniel and Cameron moments? Actually pretty much all season they've been scaling back on the Cameron-Daniel moments, and I love the way that Cam appropriates Daniel to be his friend and co-worker, it's one of my favourite things that Cam does!
I'm also glad that they didn't angst too much over Teal'c being the one to stay old. It's the only choice that makes sense.
Anyway, it was a good ending. But now I really want fic for what happened while they were stuck on Odyssey because there're so many possibilities.
