GO HABS GO!
Apr. 21st, 2008 10:43 pmHey Hey! The Montreal Canadiens just won game 7 against the Bruins! Which means that they're heading into the second round of the playoffs. S is so happy. He's been a bundle of tension for the past week or so and when the buzzer went at the end of the 3rd period (the final score was 5-0, Carey Price got a shut-out) he wasn't even able to cheer properly, he just relaxed into a big puddle of goo and made "star-angels" (his words) on the floor for about ten minutes.
I likewise am really happy that the Canadiens won. With the Canucks not even making the playoffs and the Sens getting knocked out in the first round, C and I have put our backing behind the Habs with S. I hope it helps.
Vas-y les Habitants!

Thinky thoughts
Jun. 17th, 2007 01:44 amI'm re-reading Tam Lin by Pamela Dean and it's great because I'm catching so many more things than I did the first time through. Mostly because 1) I'm now a university student, and a Classics student at that! and 2) I've since read a substantial portion of the works she mentions.
It's still a lovely book. Which is why I'm reading it right now instead of going to bed like a sensible person (no one has ever accused me of being too sensible).
Anyway this paragraph sort of jumped out at me as I read it, because this is what's going on with me right now.
Janet found in her mind the words of some of Tolkien's people, discussing the story they were in and how they might end it. Bilbo had thought of, "And they all lived happily ever after until they died. It is a good ending," he had said, "and none the worse for having been used before." "Ah!" said Sam, "but where will they live. That's what I often wonder." Janet wondered, too. For four years they would live here. After that, unless somebody made a prodigious and possibly miraculous effort, they would scatter to the four corners of the world, their fellowship broken, and do what all of them had done to be here in this room now: find new friends. It seemed wasteful. Perhaps they could buy an island somewhere.
It makes me actually want to get that White Hart tattoo we've been talking about. So that at least one part of this time will be permanent. Silly, I know, but somehow I doubt we'll be buying an island any time soon.

And it's about fucking time too. I shall detail my extensize travel experiences in the morning (or perhaps afternoon), but for now suffice to say that it was a long day of travel and I'm the only one at home.
There are however lovely little indications of my boys all around which makes everything better.
Our Christmas Tree is now in S' bed. And it says "Why yes I will sleep with anything green and prickly," on our white board.
Classes start the day after tomorrow so they should all be arriving by then. I'm really looking forward to seeing them.

Snowball Fight!!!
Dec. 5th, 2006 09:57 amUm yeah. We had one. Last night. And it was amazing!
After all that snow we got yesturday afternoon we decided to ambush our friends at the Nut House. And we were throwing snow at them as they were coming out of their house and while they were up on thier balcony it was totally awesome. Until we got broken up by the police. (no kidding) Who came in with a megaphone and said in a very 1984 monotone "This snowball fight is over".
(This is actually quite cool, I think)
So we relocated to a schoolyard nearby and continued. It was amazing the snow was nice and wet and perfect for packing and this morning I've got a few extra bruises and some sore muscles. So worth it. I got pelted so many times in the head too, but my brain feels fine enough to do my German Oral today. (I picked the last possible time to do my Oral, not because I like doing that but because they were all in the morning (the last one (me) is at 10.30) and the earliest I've had class all term is 10.00.)
(Woah, there were too many parentheses in that sentence.)
Anyway, I must away.
