Still Nineteen.
Jun. 29th, 2006 09:01 amLast night was really good. I had my family birthday dinner and I invited A to come along too, since he's very much like another family member. Birthday dinner's in my house are always lovely, whoever's brthday it is tells Dad what kind of wonderful food they want and then he makes it better than you were expecting. My dinner was roast beef with mashed potatoes, asparagus and baked tomatoes with parmesan cheese, followed by a chocolate cake with vanilla icing that my dearest mother baked for me in our interesting cake pan. Everything was mouthwateringly good (and I hope I made you jealous!).
The final course was, of course, presents, which I'm quite pleased with this year. It was a lovely mix of things I had said I wanted and cool things I hadn't expected at all. Some highlights include: a season of something (I get to decide) on DVD from Dad along with a "party animal" t-shirt, some St. Lawrence II gear (along with a pretty pretty watch) and a Ravenclaw tie and patch from Mum, Sock yarn and needles (!!!) from L, a pitcher of Cran-Apple Cider from J, and of course Smoke and Ashes from D and R.
My other major present (kinda) was that J has come home for a few days because his co-op placement keeps getting pushed back and he thinks he won't be able to come home at the end of the summer. On the plus side he and A and Dad and I went to the Brew Pub last night (again, but it's lovely) and had five pitchers of Cran-Apple Cider between the four of us.
So very lovely.
And now: cake for breakfast. (: (I smile in the opposite direction! Mwahahahah!)
