Custard was my iPod touch. He was named after Custard the Cowardly Dragon from the awesome poem by Ogden Nash.
Melinda was as brave as a barrel full of bears,
Ink and Blink chased lions down the stairs,
Mustard was as brave as a tiger in a rage,
But Custard kept crying for a nice safe cage.
(Recited from memory - that was totally an important part of my childhood. Ink is a little black kitten, Blink is a little grey mouse, and Mustard is a little yellow dog - Custard is a realio, trulio dragon.)
I got Custard online so I got them to inscribe "Don't fret, a cowardly Dragon makes the nicest pet." on the back, which is another quotation from the poem. Custard succumbed to hardware malfunction several weeks ago. He stopped giving sound in the left ear, but I put off sending him in because a) Custard has been good to me, and b) I didn't want to go without iPod while I was travelling across the country. One ear of music is better than no ears.
But there's an apple store in Edmonton, so while I'm here I decided to go in and have Custard checked out. Alas there was no quick fix, so instead I got a replacement iPod. Exactly the same, but not Custard. RIP. *sad face*
So now I need to think of a name for the new guy (this is the stand in name I've given it for the meantime). The previous iPod was named Sparky. I don't really have a theme for naming iPods, and I don't think I want one. (The new cell is called Hugh after the Borg, because he is an individual, but still part of the collective.)
Any thoughts you might have for iPod names would be greatly appreciated. So far I'm thinking Henrik (after many awesome hockey players - mostly Swedes), or Heinrik (after Heinrick Schliemann, the "archaeologist" who "discovered" "Troy", and named his kid Agamemnon because he was just that
I'll let you know what I decide
