Several months ago I told my friend T (co-founding member of the Coalition of Awesome *high fives!*) that I'd make her a list of some of the best Headstones songs to get her listening to the band. This probably isn't a hard thing to do, because she like this type of music and already loves Hugh Dillon (the front man) from watching Flashpoint. But in any case this is my Headstones pimping post. The Headstones are my favourite band, so choosing a reasonable number of songs is hard, but I'll do my best. I'm going to try to get in my favourites as well as a decent breath of the type of music they do. [personal profile] hobbitbabe, since you're also a Headstones fan, if I'm missing any songs you think are essential to the pimping experience, add a comment!

I like the Headstones because their music is loud and in your face, without just being screaming into a microphone. It's still got a lot of actual music behind it (clearly I'm an expert in music things). Hugh Dillon has an awesome voice. And a lot of the songs have some clever lyrics that aren't just about getting or losing love (like 90% of music - I have nothing against music about love, but there's plenty of other life things to sing about). It's powerful and loud and makes me want to sing along.

So, without further ado: The Headstones. Aka the shit.

Warning - Spoilers for EVERYTHING. (But esp 2.03 the Reichenbach Fall.)

Mostly placed here so that I can find it again. Is pretty!

(Clearly I need some Sherlock icons...)

(Also - procrastinating from presentation tomorrow? Me? Never.)

First of all there is a fic which is ridiculously cute and awesome that I think everyone should read. It's called The Little Vulcan by [livejournal.com profile] ayalesca. It's Le Petit Prince as told through the lens of Star Trek, and it is a thing of beauty. The Rose is Logic, the Fox is McCoy and the Pilot is Kirk. And it hits all the right moments without just retelling the original story with different names. So CUTE. Also there's art that goes with it. Very pretty art. :)

What?

Life has been pretty crazy lately. I finished my Yuletide story assignment and then did something that I think is crazy even now after having finished and uploaded. I signed up for a Pinch Hit because I could do one that they were having problems finding someone who could. So I wrote another Yuletide story, but luckily for me this one came out almost all in one go so I was mostly finished it two days ago. *am insane*

Also since I'm back in the same city as the amazing video rental place I've started renting movies once again. The other day I got Hard Core Logo, which is a mock-rockumentary and good but really bizarre starring Hugh Dillon (lead singer of the Headstones, who incidentally went to my High School, as did so many other rock stars) and Callum Keith Rennie (RayK from Due South. I'll admit that I watched it a large part due to him, but I really like him. And he's very attractive). I also rented the first disk of Lost, but I didn't get into it. It doesn't seem to be worth its hype.

And Yesterday I rented Bon Cop, Bad Cop, which is a Canadian movie that is entirely bilingual (although you can put in whatever type of subtitles you like) and it was REALLY good. Very funny and lots of explosions. They even discuss french swear words as they shoving a suspect into the trunk of the French Cop's car ("It's a Quebec tradition."). I highly recommend it. I watched it without any subtitles at all, which was fun but it meant that I'm sure I missed a few things because sometimes they talk really fast. Especially the Forensics guy who had the added bonus of using technical language (and the only technical lanuage I know in French has to do with British Military towers in the 19th Century. Thank you summer job) so that was fun.

I've still got one last-minute present to buy and also I need to find a darning needle (or something that I can pretend is a darning needle) but other than that I seem to be prepared.
